Hey guys! This is my entry for this weeks Illustration Friday! The theme this week is Giant, so I went ahead with a children's book interpretation in watercolor and ink. I think I'd like to really get away from inking my work, so I think I'm gonna try some new approaches involving either gouache or acrylic, so we'll see what turns up over the next couple weeks.
very nice intepretation
ReplyDeletelove the skin tones
Wow this is real neat. I love it.
ReplyDeletelovely work
ReplyDeleteGreat illustration Joshua. I love your technique and use of color. I look forward to seeing what you do next.
ReplyDeletegreat illustration--especially love the giant's ears! I've always been a fan of ink & watercolor, but I now try to use line a little more sparingly. But, I love line! Welcome to WaWe!
ReplyDeleteVery nice illo...I'm kinda on the fence with inking watercolor. All my watercolors that are non-illos have no line work. Since I've been working toward children's book illustration, every one has been inked...and I like the effect. But if you can achieve what you need without line, I think that's great.
ReplyDeleteDo you ink it first or last? I personally really like this....
ReplyDeleteI ink last Coreopsis, thank you.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, I also like the ears, nice touch! Very interesting that you paint first and then finish your work with ink. I do it the other way around.
ReplyDeleteNice giant! I like the relationship between the two characters.
ReplyDeleteI love these characters!
